Like with the slow Chinese podcast episodes, I start off by highlighting the characters I already knew. Though I promised myself that I would learn 20 characters per day, I say with much chagrin that I haven’t been doing that. Still, the fact that I can pick out some of them is very comforting.
I’ve been going through each episode of the slow Chinese podcast sentence by sentence. The above image is taken from the first episode of the podcast. I highlighted the characters that I knew beforehand. Even without a concentrated effort to learn the characters, I understand 56% of them.
Here’s a quick rundown of my Chinese study routine.
There are so many experts and veteran Chinese language learners out there. Not surprisingly, many just can’t seem to agree on which learning style is best. One says to mine sentences. Another says that sentence mining is a waste of time and to start speaking as soon as possible.
